Cultural Food Exchange

The current first-year students, with the support of the program coordinators, organised a Cultural Food Exchange. Students and some of the program’s alumni came together to discover different tastes from around the world. They brought dishes from their home countries to share with others. In total, they shared 20 dishes from 12 countries. The event created a warm and friendly atmosphere, helping students build stronger connections.

“The food-sharing was an amazing experience to enjoy, and knowing about the countries we are from through food. This experience allowed us to realise in many cases how many things we have in common, and also how we can benefit from our differences. Thanks to the EACH program, as we say in Colombia, “full belly, happy heart” – Camilo, Colombia
“I loved our food-sharing evening so much! It was a super nice chance to learn about the home countries of our friends firsthand, whilst paying homage to their cultures and traditions. I got to experience dishes I never even knew existed before, and some of them definitely made it into my own recipe book. At the end of the evening, all of us left with full stomachs and full hearts!” – Jan-Luca, Germany
“This event was even more fun than I expected. Everyone brought very unique foods, and you could tell everyone put a lot of effort into preparing them… Thanks also to Professor Ivo for his support. As a person who enjoys cooking, I was very happy to see so many classmates with “round” bellies – Jiahui, China

“The event was a great success. Not only was it a wonderful opportunity to meet first-year students and share their experiences in the program, but also a chance to try a wide variety of dishes from different countries and cultures. It was an amazing experience to taste different foods and exchange recipes, as well as to share a little piece of my country through a traditional dish. I am very grateful to Anya for organising the event with such care and for getting so many students to sign up and participate by bringing their dishes” – Gloriana, Costa Rica, alumni 2025
“EACH potluck dinner was an amazing cultural experience, bringing together dishes and traditions from countries across five continents. The variety of food truly captured the international spirit and diversity of the EACH program. It was a wonderful night filled with laughter, great conversations, and a shared sense of community among EACH alumni and current students” – Intasar, Pakistan, alumni 2025
